What fabrication services do you offer for aluminium extrusions?
We have a fully equipped and experienced team who undertake cutting, CNC machining, punching and welding of aluminium extrusions to your requirements. An on-site team enables us to provide quality assurance and minimise lead times and costs. We also offer part of full assembly of extruded parts.
What is your advice on designing aluminium extrusions?
To achieve a smooth flow of metal through the die, uniformity and symmetry are ideal. We also advise against sharp corners and deep, narrow sections. Use our expertise in aluminium extrusions to reduce potential issues and design in elements such as bolt slots, hinges and screw grooves that reduce post-extrusion machining.
How precise are your tolerances?
BS EN 755-9 is the industry standard for extruded aluminium profiles. It relates to the technical conditions, specifications and tolerances that ensure a precision finish that is suitable for all applications. We work to BS EN 755-9 standards for extrusion width, depth, wall thickness and the straightness of extruded lengths.
Do you cut to specific lengths?
Yes, we have automatic and manual cutting machines to accurately cut aluminium extrusions to your specified lengths. The automatic machine range is 5mm to 750mm and our manual machines cut 15mm to over 6 meters.
What is Mill Finished Aluminium?
Mill finished is the term to describe an extrusion with no surface treatment. As aluminium will naturally oxide to form a protective outer layer, mill finished is suitable for some applications. However, we also offer anodising and powder coating for added corrosion resistance and a desirable finish. All finishes are undertaken in our on-site factory and we can advise on the best finish for the aluminium alloy and your application.
Why is aluminium extrusion considered a sustainable choice?
The main reason is that aluminium is an infinitely recyclable material. Every extrusion contains recycled aluminium and parts can be fully recycled at end-of-use. As one of our measures to minimise waste, we collect and recycle all off-cuts from the fabrication processes for reuse.
